Post Moving
I haven't been terribly active over the last few months both here and on the track. Well.. long story short, the wife and I are going to take a year apart, see how things go, before we go our separate ways, or get back together. We're both too stubborn, and too alike. It's OK, this isn't a nasty, arguing type of thing. It's all very calm and not mean-spirited at all.

That said, I found a place in Muncy - a neat townhouse where the whole living area is on the second floor, and the first floor is all garage - about 25x40 if I had to guess. The lease starts 2/1, but I'll be slowly moving stuff in here and there before that. I'll probably get a u-haul for some of the house stuff I'm taking on 2/2.(EDIT: Nope. We got this covered without a rental) It's not much furniture wise (2 couches, a coffee&end table, a bed, dresser, and a desk), and then maybe another trip for the heavy garage shit.. Mainly some free-standing shelves, workbench, and toolbox. The bikes and stuff will stay at the house until I can get the heater installed in the townhouse garage to keep it above 40°.

If anyone is around that weekend and willing to lend a hand, that would be awesome. Truly no big deal if ya can't, or are injured, or whatever. Just let me know please, and we'll pick a day. Of course, pizza and beer.

EDIT: Saturday, 2/2 is ideal. I'm taking the day off on Friday 2/1 for the electric and gas to be turned on, but hopefully that'll get done in the morning.

Overall a sucky thing, but you know what kind of friend helps you in these situations? A friend with a pickup truck, a trailer and an appetite for work. I've made plenty of moves, as I'm sure you're capable of doing as well, CrewChief.
One question tho'...why you wanna live near Shawn?
Oh, wait...that's Milton.
Damn! Why you wanna move so far away? You better find some dirt ridin' places up there! ;)

You the man, thank you very much! I had just reserved a u-haul for 2/2, but yeah, maybe I don't need to if you're willing to use your trailer as well as mine?.. My biggest concern was overloading a trailer floor/ramp with my big toolbox, but I guess we could strip the drawers out of it and be OK?

LOL.. yeah, Milton is a little closer, but the biggest reason is I had a few requirements:
--an attached garage either bigger than 1 car, or a 1 car + a daylight basement
--allows cats
--no more than a 30 minute commute to work
--not Berwick/Hazleton
--preferably around $1k/mo.

There really wasn't much around, even just with the garage & kitty requirements. There is a REALLY nice place in Lewisburg, but it carried a hefty rent and I worried it might impact my ability to have fun on the weekends!
Plus, the landlord here is a cool guy. We hit it off immediately, and he's really flexible about what I can do with the place (like install a NG heater in the garage, tapping into the gas feed)

Nicole is staying in the Danville house, so there's no urgency to get EVERYTHING out right away - I just would like to get enough into the townhouse to make it livable.

Rich, I’m sorry to hear of this but hope the two of you can use this time to gather yourselves for a brighter future. I’ll keep the date in mind if our plans fall through for that weekend, but time has been limited with the baby.

Thanks bud. I'm sure your free time is limited, appreciate it.

Weather may be the only deterrent (dually is 2wd), but that's not to say Pepper can't tow my trailer.
I have a sheet of 3/4 plywood we could use to spread the load of the toolbox's casters while in the/a trailer. I also have some load moving stuff...handtruck, furniture dolly, engine hoist - might be useful...

Loading the box sounds like a meeting of minds needs to take place beforehand so we're not twiddlin' our thumbs on D-day.

The weather's been so mild I hadn't even considered weather! Not like the uhauls are 4wd either, sooooo if it's bad, I'll just have to wait. No sense in pushing things.

Update.. I have a cool f'n landlord. He's got quite a number of rentals, so I guess he has a team of maintenance guys, and they're not real busy right now. I'm dropping off the garage heater, and his guys are going to run all the lines and install it for the cost of parts. :)

So I of course pushed my luck and said they could do the massive corner-wall-mount TV mount I just picked up if he wants too (and offered to pay labor if he'd like). Damn thing weighs 90+ lbs by itself(!) But it's sturdy as fuck :toocool:

Eskimo, sorry to hear about your situation. I can give you a hand if you need but still trying to take it easy lifting things and not re-injuring my back. Your welcome to load up my tacoma and enclosed trailer if you need. I also have a single axle 6x12 flat bed trailer if you think that might work better for some items.

Things are moving right along.. We also have my friends Jess and her husband Brian helping out too.

The biggest problem now is going to be finding a "staging area" for the trucks and trailers! It's a narrow,dead-end street, and my car & trailer will stick out into the road a little, let alone Fred's combo, but we'll deal with that. It's a good problem to have! I'll probably ask the neighbors across the street if they can move their cars temporarily. The house right across from me is who parks on my side a lot.

Have a look.. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.2036275 ... 312!8i6656

How about parking the trucks/trailers on Ritter Alley. Bring one down your street at a time? They’d be within sight of your place right?

Let me know if you need my trailer too. I’ll try to make it. I know we have a soccer game late afternoon that I’ll have to be back home for but I can’t think of anything else I have to do yet.

Haywood’s Bar and Grill has good food if you didn’t know that already

My friend owns the Grenoble funeral near there and said we could use his parking lot if they don't have a funeral going on. I'll know for sure a few days before hand if they have anything scheduled and will let you know.

Thanks for the info on Haywood's, I didn't know that.

The alley could work, or like Mike said, the funeral home is only 2 blocks over.

OK, I'm getting packed up, and we're still on! Weather looks good, albeit cold, but it was looking worse, so there's that.

Saturday, let's meet up at 9am at my house - we'll head over to the new place after packing up, and then after we unpack, lunch at Haywood's. New address is 15 Bruner St. Muncy 17756 (It's 30 minutes from the current place).

I like the idea of staging Fred in Grenoble's parking lot if it's available ( https://goo.gl/maps/tyXVJRgM3rS2 ). The unit a few down from me is also vacant, so Lunchy's combo could stage in there.

Thanks in advance guys!

Since Fred is the only person in PA with a 2wd truck, we have a contingency plan. My neighbor a few houses down has an Avalanche 2500 with snow tires that we can use to shuttle the trailer up to the house and back down..

Fucking weather. Fucking fool that has to move in February. :banghead:

If you don’t need me to bring my trailer I can pull Fred’s trailer up the hill too.

Tom has a 2500 Avalanche? I thought he had a 1500 that he supercharged?

Post Re: Moving
The Cherokee can take the trailer anywhere but, if we get over a few thousand pounds of load, a WD hitch might be necessary. Careful load planning can solve that issue.

I'm okay with hooking the trailer to another truck as the Cherokee has shoddy track bar bushings and I'm not sure what effect a trailer is gonna have in braking/turning. I got death wobble in a downhill turn while braking from 55-ish, no trailer. I can deal with it as I assume it's all flat going at highway speed...just throwin' it out their for disclosure.

Given the temps we'll experience in the next couple days, the diesel isn't gonna be happy about being awakened first thing in the morning. It's hibernating and might refuse to get out of bed.

I'll plan on bringing the Cherokee, otherwise waiting for the weather to rise above mid-20s. So, we're out one truck bed.
