So as BP gets lower and lower, I'm finding it difficult to look out ahead. A couple times last weekend I had to pick up my BP slightly so I could see the corner exit.

As i rotate my melon back, the hump on my jacket is tilting the back of my helmet up a bit, and rotating it down over my eyes (not a ton, but when your using only about the top 1/2" of your view port it makes a difference) not helping the situation. I wear an air vest as well, making the hump act even a touch higher.

I have a shoei rf1200 helmet, do I just need a helmet with a taller view? Or should I make sure my next leathers don't have a speed hump?

It's your lid. I went through this as well. The RF1200 is not a racing helmet. It's a sporty helmet.

Race helmets have bigger eyeports and are cut a little higher at the back to allow your head to tilt up. They also flow more air at the expense of noise, but with earplugs in that doesn't matter. Airflow matters.

In the meantime, you can stuff some folded up paper towels or something similar in the forehead area to help raise the top of the eyeport. Many people actually use maxipads for this and sweat control too - I'm going to be trying that next race (mainly) as a sweat control experiment. Apparently they work really fuckin well.

Most all "race" suits are going to have an aero hump so probably hard to avoid them. I believe that this problem is why some of the latest greatest track/race helmets are shaped funny on the back side. Maybe a new helmet is in order for you. Possibly also a slight change in BP too but I'd have to give that more thought than I have time for right now.

Why did I not see this before I replied? Eskimo beat me to it.

Any thoughts on the new bell race star? I'm tempted to go get one. Love the CF

I'm sure it's a good lid, but the fit of the helmet (i.e. the shape of it vs. the shape of your head) is far more important than it being made of CF.
