Post New bike hauler..
So I've been hunting around, and either I found new and out of my price range, or beat to hell. I gave up and had a build order in with Pace American when I said "let's check Craigslist one last time.." and spotted this.

2013 Car-mate 7x16. 6" extra height, 110v wired, workbench in the nose, cabinet above that, insulated roof, finished interior panels, and oh, what's that on the roof? Yeah. A/C, cause that's how I roll.. Scored it for $3800, and it's hardly been used.

I've been on a spending/working frenzy since then, and so far (and thanks to Fred for his help!) , added:
a vent cover (so the roof vent can stay open going down the road)
reverse/loading lights
a full array of LED strip lighting in the interior, on a dimmer even ;-)
Replaced that flimsy-ass license plate tab with a real bracket.

On its way:
Bling wheels - ETA 7/22
PitPal organizer for the door (7/28), fuel jug mounts (7/28), co2 mount (7/22), strap holders (7/24)
2 Baxley wheel chocks (total of 3 bike capability with my condor chock) - ETA 7/23
A whole bunch of e-track - ETA 7/22
12v outlets at the bench - ETA 7/22
30 amp RV extension cord and a bunch of adapters for 50A, 30A, and 15A plugs (What he gave me with it is only 20A rated and only setup to plug into a 240V generator, or a 15/20A wall plug, and short) - ETA 7/22

Better / interior pics to come as I finish up the interior this week...

Eeehhh. It was in remarkable good shape for a 22 year old awning, but it was that old and needed some little parts. Worst thing is, if there was to be an issue with any of the arms or the springs, parts aren't availanymore, and I'd have to convert to the "new" (post-1997) style stuff at a ~$500 cost. There are some overstock Carefree of Colorado awnings on ebay now for $550 shipped if I can live with white hardware, but I need to let the wallet cool off a little. I do still really want one..

Nice score, especially with A/C. I am replacing my black enclosed 7 x 14 trailer this winter with a new construction rig. I was thinking of retiring it for motorcycle use, but wasn't sure if it was an appropriate size. My worry was that it is too big for track days if I didn't want to haul it with my work truck, but too small for trips (carrying multiple bikes). I'm anxious to hear your feedback.
Cheers

Good decision if it was that old.

7x14 is a nice size. I want to go bigger to 8x16' eventually mainly for when we do our long trips south with some sport touring bikes or cruisers in the trailer but otherwise my 7x14 works pretty well for track days even with three bikes in it.

Looks good, looking forward to the interior photos. I'd love a enclosed trailer , but I'm limited with parking. Eventually I'll go with something small enough to fit inside my yard.

7x14 is just fine as well, There's tons of room for 2 bikes & all your gear in one, or even 3 & stuff. The extra 2' on this just gives me a little more breathing room for 3 bikes' worth of stuff on the occasion where I'll be carrying that many. (Mentch - There will even be room for a ST1300 in the front chock.. I measured!)

Zach - My neighbor might be selling his Haulmark 6x12 next spring - The one I've used once or twice. It's a nice unit, tall enough for you to stand up in, and even has brakes (which are optional on ones that size?!?!). It's pretty basic inside, but there is automotive-grade carpet in it. :D Tows really easily - My beast averaged 11-12 MPG towing it to NJMP and back (not bad considering I get 14-15 empty)

Did some 110v work last night.. added an outlet under the shelves up front for the work light, and decided to get one of them fancy 1 outlet / 2 USB port outlets thingamabobs for the other side. (Anyone considering it - save your money. They aren't capable of very high current, but it'll be good enough to charge my phone overnight.) Changed out a few outlets to 20A by the side door since that's where we'll most likely be running the warmers from. (I considered doing an external outlet, but that just seems like a headache/water leak)

Lots of stuff coming today & then the chocks come tomorrow.. Gonna be some long nights of bolting down e-track! (I found some good hardware to go into the side walls - 1/4" x 1-1/2" hex head "Structural wood screws" instead of lag bolts. Probably nothing new to Mr. 2x4, but I like the idea.) The floor will just get drilled every 6" for 1/4" bolts with fender washers where I don't hit a crossmember.

Isn't that a bit long for the walls? I'd think the point would come perilously close to popping the exterior wall. Wouldn't an inch do it?
I'm pretty sure I used the inch length throughout mine, including the e-track on the floor...nothing poking out the bottom.
I've yet to have a load failure from either surface.
I'll double check.

I spoke to a tech at Car-mate who really knew the construction of the trailer.. the studs in the walls are 1.5" thick, plus the 1/4" plywood over them, plus the 1/8" paneling added by the other guy (it compresses, but OK), plus the material I'm bolting through. (the e-track is listed as 11ga - .120"). This gives me a good 1" bite into the studs. 1" probably would have been fine, but these are badass. I attached the latch for the fold-down bench/bed, and when I pulled like hell on it, the whole trailer shook. :D

I had been thinking about those actually! Does seem like they'd be in the way most of the time though..

Anyway.. Progress!

A little bling.. (The guy I bought the trailer from has another piece of the wall material for me to do the door)
Image

Strip lighting in the overhead shelf and down the whole length.. I'm not happy that the second string of LED's is a different color shade than the first, but we'll see what the seller says. It's not really as noticeable as the camera makes it out to be.
Image
Image

Fold-up bench moved forward, and the latching system.. You can kinda see the pins to hold the legs folded as well.
Image
Image

E-track has begun!
Image

Some of the neat stuff in the back corner.. Air chuck, 110, 12v, and the switch for the reverse/loading lights..
Image

Added an outlet above the bench, with the USB charger thingy.

Hahaha.. your time setting is a little off... I posted it when I got up this morning at 5:30.. ;)

Tonight is the big push - mounting the e-track on the floor, mounting the 2 baxley chocks, and finding the box of freaking e-track tie-down adapter things that was supposedly delivered but I don't see.

Nice Raxx installed.. I might even go all Mentch on the install and lay down a little bit of something to keep the walls from getting marred up by the wheels, like one side of velcro or something.. :P
