Looking like Saturday will be the more popular day? I can make either Sat or Sun, but Sat would work out a little better.

Since Mentch can't make Sunday, then yeah, Saturday it is, it would seem. Little chilly as of right now, but better that than 100°!

Maybe we could make a biathlon out of it.. Have a sidearm on your hip and a rifle slung over your shoulder. Make a lap, then as you ride up, you draw the sidearm and shoot while moving. Then come to a stop, bring the rifle to bear, and that that 100 yard target. :)

That reminds me, I gotta weld up that broken spinny target.

What time do the festivities begin?

You forgot the beer station, or is that in the cup holder?

Spas 12 with the hook on the stock hooked behind the elbow for one handed firing, yep that might just be possible.

I'm not available during the week for any maintenance work. Saturday at some point I could certainly help though.

I've got a box of clays I'll bring too.

Fireworks? I've got lots of 5.56 tracers ;)

What kind of food can I bring?

Shit, does anyone have access to an open trailer? The tractor won't fit in the bed of my truck.

As for maintenance, I'd be more than happy to show up earlier and do some work, or Sunday afternoon?

Where's your open trailer? Did it go with the buggy? How about Tom? He's got so many he can't possibly be using all of them.

I need to get myself a small open trailer again. I used to have a single axle all set up for bike/quad hauling. Never should have sold it :banghead: . I also had a 6x12 tandem axle that we hauled just about everything on. Once the frame got tweeked (don't ask) we let it go. My dad's friend bought it, he didn't care it was banana shaped. Now all I have is the dump trailer. That's a little over kill for hauling a quad or two. Not to mention it's usually tied up with work somehow. I'll probably be bringing the enclosed down on Saturday. Loading my quad in my truck is a pain in the ass. I need a bigger truck, 8' bed.

I may be available at random for some clearing. I'm focused on the stretches between the gate and the cabin, and the 100yd backstop. I'll check it out prior to Saturday.

Weather's calling for a.m. rain, mid-50s.

Not sure how hard you guys party. What's the suggested number of:

Pistol rounds
Rifle rounds
Beers

To bring?

Should I bring any maintenance tools? Weedwacker? Chainsaw?

1000 rounds of each should do

Bring whatever you feel like shooting and drinking. It's up to you. We usually shoot a decent amount of clays so bring a scattergun if you have. If not I'm sure there will be extra ones laying around.

Maintenance tools, maybe Fred can do some recon ahead of time and report to us what's necessary. Better yet maybe he can just get it all done himself. ahead of time.

Yeah, the open trailer was sold at the same time as the buggy. :loser: :hammer: I really should have a small open trailer, but until I can find one in orange, I don't think it'll pass the wife's approval. ;)

I bet it would fit in the bed of Fred's dually! It was actually reeeeeally close to fitting in the Avalanche when I bought it.. the 50" wide bed killed it, we couldn't get the rear wheels in.

Tom's trailers all have stuff in them - apparently 3 garages isn't enough to hold all his stuff! The open one is a possibility though.

Gonna go look at playground today.

Between wheel wells in truck bed is just over 48", maybe 50". How strong of a ramp do we need and do you have one? My ramp is good for the quad but not sure about the weight of your tractor. Haven't decided what I'm taking yet.

My trailer is full of garbage...need to have a burn. Speaking of which, Peter's pit needs cleaned, too. My quad and bucket trailer which fit in my truck and I can hang the 426 off the bumper, or Rich's loader and I'll take a Jeep with 426? How high can theloader lift its bucket? Worthwhile to build up the backstop?

Food? That's something I completely forget about when I'm having fun. I'll try not to be so fun if you've volunteered by mentioning it. :D
I'll bring onion, tomato, lettuce/spinach, mustard, ketchup and some crack (Mint Oreos).

No girls here, either.

Further tool allotment(s) pending today's coal land recon.

Where the hell's Micah? Cubes is gonna need someone to help take some of the initiation heat off him.

Cool. Should we consider more farming implements then? I have a scarifier and tine rake for the quad, could even bring the plow but it won't push much.

I have my DR grader to drag behind my quad too. That levels shit off pretty nice.

Hey, is this a fun day or a work day? I guess as long as beer is involved work becomes more fun.

Post Re: Paging McNeil..McNeil, please pick up a white courtesy p
So I went and played Ted Nugent yesterday.
Not really, I was playin' Led Zeppelin.
The point is, I took out some aggression on choice offending appendages of foliage.
Here's the uptakes...

The entry is clear so you guys with clean paint jobs won't get any pinstriping.
Someone has considerately piled wood in the pit (not me).
Others have been partying there as evidenced by a few burn areas and fresh garbage here and there. Looks like someone may even have camped or had some sort of tryst goin' on. :o
The camp and range are high and dry. However, the gravel beds to the East are near swamped...nice, clean water holes to muddy up or take a swim! :D
I trimmed around the range area to the left(East) in the off-chance that we actually do a Biathlon, (gives multiple routes while providing spectating pleasure). We'll have to lay the course Saturday. If nothing else, it'll be a great way for us two-wheelers to learn something beneficial, How to Ride in Sand, 101.
I didn't venture too far with the Jeep. Things got too tight and, frankly, I was tired of whackin' innocent plumage just because...
I would say that a couple leaf rakes, maybe a garden rake, and we're set around the range...lotsa little, unsightly debris.
I'll bring garbage bags for anyone interested in actually picking stuff up.
There's a drum to use for taping targets that could be pulled to a backstop and filled, so a shovel is desired.
A pallet or two or three or whatever. They're always handy, bring some. I have some.
The 100yd backstop needs attention. I figure we dig out a shelf, stand a pallet and backfill it. There's water holes guarding the front base of the backstop. (Do we need to move dirt? I think we have enough to do before we play).
Speaking of water, the gravel beds look daunting. Could be fun, could be miserable. I'm excited either way.

What do the trails look like? I can only guess they need major attention...something I wasn't prepared to hack. But, as a start to what may become an eventful season, our enthusiasm will be juxtaposed for either work or play at this first gathering. I can't see much of one without a lot of the other. At any rate, I would like to bring my quad/trailer for clean-up ease but I don't want the quad for play...I'd rather have the Jeep and 426.

Looks like I'll be takin' the truck/quad/trailer/tools/426, as much as I'd love to take the Jeep.
Sadly, my quad has a torn cv boot and I won't be playing in water, hence, the 426. But, I don't want to be wet either, hence, the Jeep.
We can hook a trailer I don't have to the truck for other implements(your toys) if anyone finds that feasible so I can take the Jeep and throw the 426 on its bumper rack. As of now, I'm torn.
Why can't we plan these things in a timely fashion? ;)

I have plenty enough rakes/shovels, chainsaw, machetes and a hedge trimmer for riding shotgun, slowly, to clear progress on the trails. Geezus, this is starting to sound like work. Someone tell me to say "fuck it, just bring beer/bike/bullets".

Almost forgot. I didn't go into the cabin but someone broke out the windows on the creek side (glass danger on the ground) and I noticed bullet holes in the upper window. WTF?!? :(
Also, I noticed an area that might be conducive to setting up camping ground...it's elevated and just a short walk from the firepit.

Peter, there's so much potential here. I seriously think you should consider a private playground with "guests" offering up "work for play" or other compensations to make it something more pleasurable...and put a lock on the gate while also denying easy access around the gate. I'd hate to see the place get trashed...looks like it's starting to happen more. (I'm available to hunt trespassers and deliver their own Blair Witch horror. )
Nevertheless, thank you for the opportunities you've provided.

I've got a couple pallets I need to get rid of, I'll bring them. I'll also bring a few manual labor hand tools along.

So what do you think about my grader? Any roads or areas that are in need of leveling/improving? If not this time maybe another time.

I'm all for a private playground paid for with work days. Sign me up!
