Thanks Johnny - Looks like he took first place both days, so that's a good video on how to get it done! I noticed the short shifts on the long right hander to keep traction under control with the engine trying to get up into the powerband.. Looks like a fun track! Those long right turns where the inside of the turn isn't clearly defined messed with my head in the video, hopefully they'll be more clear in person.

Mentch - Looks like they run AM and EX at the same time, so that's probably the reason for the 2 waves. They let the white plates go first as a carrot for us yellow platers to chase. ;)

Ah, yeah. I didn't think to look at number plate colors. Looks like he ran down a bunch of experts then or he was lapping other amateurs bad! I'll have to watch it again on a bigger screen than my old phone.

Post Re: R6 racebike build/rebuild
Update:
Got the rear master cylinder return spring kit installed (From Woodcraft, of course!) to keep the pedal from applying any unwanted pressure on the rear brake, and also make it harder to put too much pressure on it if I'm just barely riding it. That was nice and easy.

The low-buck rigid supersport seat mod:
(I don't see where I posted about the early parts of this, soooo..
As an alternative to the superbike tail section, which I like because it gives you great 'feel' as to what the bike is doing, but dislike for how it attaches, I decided to do an experiment with my stock seat to give me the feel of a superbike tail, but the easy access under the seat of a supersport.
I started off by stripping the seat down to the base.

I filled the voids, nooks, crannies, etc. with Crayola Model Magic, at the suggestion of someone who had used it for a project before, and was pleased with it. Fun working with it, and it molded easily. The OEM seat foam and vinyl cover weighed in right at 1lb, and I've got ~13 oz. of the model magic on there. It's not as heavy as it looks.

After letting it dry for a while, I think it'll work. It has a *bit* of give, maybe along the lines of the most dense foam you've ever felt, but seems pretty rigid.
So I went at it with a drywall sanding sponge (Does 3M make ANYTHING that sucks?), and shaped the edges and smoothed out the middle some. Going to mount it on the bike and static test it before attaching the HT-Moto "full sensation" foam over it.
The pic doesn't do it justice, but the edges are nicely sloped where they meet the plastic seat base, and I built up the front of it to help keep me back on the seat a bit. I'm happy with how it LOOKS, hopefully it'll function as well.

Post Re: R6 racebike build/rebuild
Heading down to Maher Motorsports this Friday to get dyno-tuned for the variable stack config. I've also talked myself with his help into running (at least) VP 98L fuel all year. Better for the valves (The weak point of the R6), he said. More consistency in the fuel, he said. He added that if later in the year we find that a little more "go" is needed, we can tune for MR12 at that point... But MR12 is running $28 a gallon, making the 98L nearly a bargain at $12. (gulp).

His dyno is a lot like Stump's Garage's dyno in that it reads "low", AKA "Honest".. But as long as it's making similar power to other R6's he's done, I'll be happy.

Powaaahhhh!! Dyno tune at Maher Motorsportss in Willow Grove. The A/F was pig rich in the middle, and a little lean up high.. Made good power, and he says I should be happy with how it pulls.

I didn't write down the peak numbers, but I just know it's 5 more than Johnny's ZX-6. :balls:

Yamaha R6 120 hp, 10 lb. of torque at 25k rpm! Kawasaki ZX-6 115 hp., 45 lb. of torque at 14k rpm. That's pretty close.

Still haven't tested the exhaust slider.. I went down on the "cheaper" side.. :D

Already received the replacement helmet from Scorpion, the Woodcraft parts are on the way, my suit is up with Todd from HEROIC racing apparel getting a repair on the sleeve and a new pair of his SP-R gloves, and best of all, the bodywork is at ATech Customs in line for paint & graphics! It's going to be grrrreat!
