How'd you feel? Everything back on track with your riding?

Yeah, pretty good. I finally have a map on the bike that runs right on something other than MR12, and we dialed the engine braking WAAAY back.. So it was a day to get used to that. It was a busy day so it was hard to get a clean lap in, but I was pretty comfortable (albeit... quickly tiring. I need to do more cardio again - I've been slacking!) running 32's and 33's on a pretty worn tire.. The bike feels MUCH more settled under braking. My budddy (Shepherd) who has done 24's previously was happy to do 28's, so I'm OK being 4-5 seconds off his pace :)

Pretty sure I'll be up to speed come race day this coming weekend. Certainly didn't have any flashbacks or anything, just my normal paranoia that I'm not sure I'll ever get past. When I'm chasing someone I tend to this less about it, so hopefully I have some carrots to chase!

We need to get together for a  dude... It's been too long!

:banghead: :banghead: Well so much for up to speed this weekend. Looks like that shit from Texas will be dumping all over NJ that weekend! It's gonna be a wet mess. Oh well, the plan is to race anyway. Who knows, maybe it'll work out?

I used to like riding in the rain. Now, all I think of is all the grit I have to remove afterwards...and you know that shit finds its way into everything. Throttle tube/housing, peg and pedal pivots, the chain, all up under the bodywork/tank cover, calipers and pads...
The worst is, anything that moves is liable to retain that grit, and that's a problem waiting to accelerate a wear issue that shouldn't be happening.

If/when you're out in front, it's no worse than a wet street ride, but getting caught in the mist is akin to media blasting. It gets everywhere...through the vents in your helmet, sucked into the airbox...the list is long enough to almost make one not only say no, but HELL no.

I'd have to ask myself, "Do I have the time/energy to disassemble/clean/lube/reassemble every suspect component before my next event?"

You know what happens to 4x4s that don't keep the grit out of/off the undercarriage. It can take hours just to hose that off/out thoroughly and you're not even disassembling anything.

You could blow this weekend off and make up for it by cornerworking the MA event next weekend. i hear the track is looking for cornerworkers for that event. How cool would that be to see the Pros up close doing their thing at a track you know well? Shit, you might even learn something you wouldn't otherwise have had the opportunity to pick up on!

I haven't decided yet but could easily say "yes".
